In TCM, Yin represents the energy that is responsible for moistening and cooling bodily functions. Běi shā shēn (Glehnia Root) is cooling in nature, replenishes fluids in the body, clears heat, and nourishes both the Lung-Yin and Stomach-Yin.
Benefits:
● Moistens the lungs to relieve Lung-Yin deficiency syndrome such as dry cough with little phlegm, dry throat, hoarse voice, blood in phlegm, etc.
● Clears stomach heat to relieve Stomach-Yin deficiency syndrome such as poor appetite, constipation, dry stools, etc.
Contraindications:
Not suitable for coughs with a wind-cold attack or characterised by cold and dampness (e.g. cough with clear mucus, cough with profuse white or watery sputum). Not recommended for individuals with spleen and stomach deficiencies such as vulnerability to diarrhea due to coldness in the spleen and stomach.
